Thursday, 16 October 2008

Northumbrian Water is to invest £900,000 to construct and upgrade 880 metres of sewer pipe in Wideopen as part of essential improvement work in North Tyneside to reduce the risk of flooding for residents.

The work, which is part of Northumbrian Water’s £250 million programme to upgrade sections of the region’s vast sewerage network between 2005 - 2010, will reduce the risk of flooding to 17 properties.

Brian Ford, Northumbrian Water’s project manager, said: “Reducing the risk of property flooding is one of Northumbrian Water’s priorities and we appreciate that flooding does cause customers distress”.

The work is due to begin on Monday October 20 2008 and take up to five months to complete.  “
