AMEC plc, the international engineering and project management company, has been ranked one of the world's top five companies for sustainability in the oil equipment and services sector according to the worldwide Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) 2008/9.
AMEC was in competition with 49 other organisations for only five places. It is the first time the company has appeared in this sector and the fifth year in succession that it has featured in the DJSI, which annually surveys and benchmarks the world's 2,500 largest companies. Only the top 10 per cent the best performing organisations, based on their social, environmental and economic performance, are included in the index.
"This achievement underlines our commitment to improving our sustainability performance," said Ron Lee, AMEC's Human Resources Director and senior management sponsor for sustainability. "Our aspiration is to achieve excellence in sustainability performance, delivering benefits in our workplace, our community, our environment and our marketplace."
