Yorkshire Water Chief Operating Officer Richard Flint has been appointed as Chief Executive of Yorkshire Water and parent company, Kelda, succeeding Kevin Whiteman, who continues his role as Chairman.
The planned succession, effective from 1st April, marks the start of the company’s new, five year £1.9 billion investment programme.
Over the last ten years, Mr Whiteman has presided over a dramatic transformation in Kelda’s fortunes which has seen subsidiary company Yorkshire Water win Utility of the Year for three consecutive years from 2004-2006 and become one of the most efficient water company in the sector, Yorkshire Water’s continued success ultimately led to parent company Kelda’s acquisition by a consortium of blue chip infrastructure funds in 2008.
Said Kevin Whiteman:
“Richard’s appointment comes at the right time as we look to strengthen our business and deliver our new investment programme. The business has come a long way over the last ten years, but I know there is still much more we can achieve under Richard’s leadership. I look forward to working with him in my continuing role as Chairman.”
