Leading infrastructure services provider Morgan Est has successfully lowered a Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) into a shaft in Barry near Cardiff, as part of the £130 million, five year Welsh Water Asset Investment Framework to help alleviate flooding in South East Wales.

The 18-tonne Iseki Unclemole TBM was craned into position on Thursday, 1st October, enabling Morgan Est to start work on creating an underground tunnel measuring 1,500 millimetres in diameter and 147 metres in length.
