New ABB podcasts simplify flowmeter selection
Monday, 30 March 2009

Selecting the best flowmeter for your application has now been made easier with ABB’s new series of animated podcast tutorials. Covering the main flowmeter technologies, the podcasts can be readily downloaded to a PC or portable device for viewing.

Podcasts are available covering electromagnetic, variable area, mass flow, differential pressure and swirl and vortex. flowmeters. Users are provided with an explanation of how each type of flowmeter works, where they can be used and their advantages and disadvantages for specific applications.

The launch of the podcasts follows the unveiling of ABB’s new FlowMaster range in 2008. FlowMaster harmonises the flowmeter ranges previously offered by ABB heritage companies Fischer & Porter and Kent Taylor into a single offering featuring consistent design and a shared technology platform.

Users can now choose industry-specific options for chemicals, oil and gas, water, food, power, pharmaceutical, metals & mining and pulp & paper applications. Using shared electronics technology across the range, plus a common interface featuring ABB’s new HMI, it is also now easier for users to set up and operate any ABB flow meter, saving vital commissioning and running time.

“The FlowMaster family stands for much more than just products,” says Tony Hoyle, UK Flow Products Manager. “It’s also about making it as easy as possible for our customers get the most from their flowmeters no matter what their process or operating conditions. The launch of the podcasts is part of this philosophy, making it easier for our customers to find the best flowmeter products for their utility or process applications.”

To request any of the podcasts, email moreinstrumentation@gb.abb.com ref. ‘Podcasts’ and state which type(s) of flowmeters you are interested in.  For more information about ABB’s FlowMaster flowmeters, visit www.abb.com/flow or email moreinstrumentation@gb.abb.com or call 0870 600 6122 ref. ‘FlowMaster’.
