Consumer watchdog calls for further work on water sector competition

The Consumer Council for Water (CCW) has published its formal response to the respond to the UK and Welsh Assembly Governments’ (WAG) consultation on the Cave Review of competition and innovation in water markets.  The Council is calling for both the UK and Assembly Governments to undertake further work on competition in the UK water sector.
 
Big freeze prompts new guidance for farmers on milk and slurry disposal

Some of the regulations on spreading milk and slurry will be relaxed temporarily to help farmers during the big freeze, the Environment Agency announced yesterday.

MPs Committee calls for more urgent action to deliver on carbon targets

The House of Commons Environmental Audit Committee has published its report on Carbon Budgets. The Committee has recommended that the Government should move to a target of a 42% cut by 2020 and should implement the intended budget irrespective of whether or not the EU moves to a 30% target for cutting its emissions.
