Talybont to benefit from £8.6 million water improvement scheme
Thursday, 18 February 2010

Dwr Cymru Welsh Water customers who are served by Eithin Fynydd water treatment works are set to benefit from a £8.6 million investment scheme.

The essential scheme, which is due to begin later this month, is scheduled for completion by March 2011. It involves carrying out work which will further help protect the quality of drinking water to the customers supplied by the works.

In preparation for the scheme Welsh Water has liaised extensively with Gwynedd County Council and Snowdonia National Park Authority.

The improvement works are scheduled to take place mostly within the existing boundary of the water treatment works.

Welsh Water capital manager Marc Davies said:

“This work is part of a wider £200 million investment across Wales to upgrade and expand water treatment works to bring long term benefit to our customers. It will ensure that we continue to provide a wholesome and reliable supply of water to our customers at all times.

“We assure local members of the community that we are working as quickly as possible to complete the essential works.”

The scheme will be delivered by Black & Veatch, working with United Utilities and other partners, on behalf of Welsh Water.
