Overall levels of service performance by water companies for the provision of developer services are continuing to rise, according to the latest set of figures from industry body Water UK for the Quarter 4 (January-March) 2015/16 period.
More than 20 different performance targets for both water and sewerage services were introduced in April 2015, and since then the industry has seen improvements in levels of service performance.
Since the first results were published in July 2015, the industry has seen a consistent increase in delivery against a range of targets, with overall levels of service performance rising from 89% to 98% for water supply and from 94% to 98% for sewerage.
Michael Roberts, Chief Executive of Water UK, said: "Overall, the latest results on developer services are encouraging, but there is still work left to do to improve our performance."
The water companies have been engaging with a range of stakeholders to ensure that the activities that are being monitored are those which matter to their developer customers. A new measure on mains diversions is being trialled and work is underway on new measures in respect of 'self-lay' activities.
The full set of figures cover 15 water supply and 9 sewerage performance targets for a range of services including enquiries, quotations, connections, design, construction and adoption of developer laid assets across England and Wales.
The latest results reveal that Welsh Water has emerged in first place for the year as a whole, for both water and sewerage, compared to other water and sewerage companies in England and Wales. Welsh Water’s average monthly performance was 99% overall.
The not-for-profit company has continually performed well in the last year since measures were introduced to assess water companies’ levels of service for developer services activities. Welsh Water’s Developer Services team serve an average of 400 domestic and developer customers every day.
