Global professional and technical services firm AECOM has won a five year contract on Wessex Water’s new AMP6 design capital delivery partner framework, with the potential to extend for all of AMP7.
Under the framework, AECOM will provide design services to support the delivery of the water company’s capital programme during Asset Management Plan 6 (AMP6), the water industry’s 2015 to 2020 funding period. The initial five-year contract, which starts immediately, has the potential to be extended by a further five years to cover all or part of AMP7.
AECOM will work closely with Wessex Water’s in-house engineering arm to deliver design services for projects across the South West of England, including Dorset, Somerset, Bristol, most of Wiltshire and parts of Gloucestershire and Hampshire.
Schemes will include the construction of new assets, as well as the refurbishment and maintenance of existing above and below ground assets. Projects will include water treatment works, wastewater treatment works, sewage pumping stations and water pipelines.
Marc Barone, AECOM’s Managing Director, Water, UK & Ireland, said:
“The delivery partner model allows AECOM to work collaboratively with Wessex Water to deliver its capital programme over the next five years. We see this as an opportunity to bring increased efficiencies and value-for-money to Wessex Water’s customers.”
AECOM has worked with Wessex Water for the past 15 years and is currently assisting the delivery of the detailed design by providing pipeline design engineers for the Corfe Mullen to Salisbury pipeline, a new water supply pipe that will transfer water from Dorset to Salisbury in Wiltshire.
The company’s appointment to the latest framework follows the delivery of a large number of projects in AMP5 under Wessex Water’s previous capital maintenance framework, as well as the detailed design for Maundown Water Treatment Works in AMP4.
A Fortune 500 firm, AECOM companies, including URS Corporation and Hunt Construction Group, had revenues of approximately $19 billion during the 12 months ended Dec. 31 2014.
