Bristol Water has gone out to tender for partners who will secure 100 % of the required funding and then deliver renewable energy solutions via wind or solar power for a number of sites.
The water company is looking to appoint up to four participants to the framework agreement, who will need to be able to demonstrate their capability and past experience.
The agreement will run for up to 5 years, with an initial period of 36 months with options to extend by up to 24 months.
Bristol Water plc are seeking partners who will secure 100 % of the required funding and then deliver renewable energy solutions for a number of sites. The firm's intention is to award a framework for solar and potentially wind renewable power solutions - the two sources of renewable energy will be the water company’s initial focus.
The framework suppliers will finance, project manage, design, procure, construct, operate and maintain the installations. Bristol Water has already identified a number of sites where such installations may be possible. Partners will be offered the exclusive opportunity to develop detailed proposals which allow Bristol Water plc to enter into a long term power purchase agreement with the suppliers.
Bristol Water said that at this stage the total quantity or scope is difficult to forecast as it is dependant on the success of each development.
However the water company believes it should be possible to create multiple developments in the required range given the available footprints for potential development across its estate.
Lasy month Anglian Water launched a search for renewable energy generation partners from wind and solar power in a deal which could run for up to 30 years.
Deadline for responses is 11th June – click here to access the tender documentation online.
