Scottish Water has awarded the contracts for its Tier 1 alliance partners who will deliver its water infrastructure capital investment programme.
The water company has appointed three Tier 1 Water Infrastructure Delivery Partners to support in the delivery of its Quality and Standards IV (Q&SIV) Capital Investment Programme for the regulatory period 2015 to 2021.
Seven companies were in the bidding for the work - Morrison Construction, Coffey Construction Ltd and Fastflow Pipeline Services Ltd have all been awarded contracts.
When Scottish Water went out to tender for the work it said that in order to achieve the required efficiency it would be necessary to realise the optimum balance between self delivery and wider supply chain delivery. It is anticipated that the Tier 1 Delivery Partners will not sub-contract work other than to Scottish Water Tier 2 framework contractors. Companies bidding for the work were required to have the necessary in-house resources to self deliver the work allocated to them.
Scottish Water are anticipating that delivery support will mainly be required within the Central Belt and the North East- the ability to provide self-delivery within these areas will be a key requirement for the Tier 1 Delivery Partners.
Estimated total final value of the contract is £50 million. When the contract originally went out to tender estimated value was put at up to £150 million - subject to satisfactory reviews during the regulatory period the framework may be extended into the next regulatory period.
