Wastewater sludge services - United Utilities tenders £10 million AMP8/9 contract for liming treatment

United Utilities  has gone out to tender with an AMP8/9 contract for liming treatment of wastewater sludge services worth an estimated £10 million.

UNITED UTILITIES LOGOThe water company is looking to put  a Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS) in place for liming treatment of wastewater sludges both on and off company sites. Liming may be utilised as an alternative treatment of sludge to manage capacity shortfalls and increased production demand during planned/unplanned shutdowns.

United Utilities has an estimated 30,000 – 50,000 wet tonnes of raw sludge per year that requires alternate treatment and / or disposal. Each mini competition within the DPS will be specific each site’s specific needs. It is anticipated that requirements will include liming plant equipment, lime, permits (subject to site and lot) and resource to deliver the limed sludge treatment services.

The contract is being tendered in 2 separate Lots:

Lot 1: On-site lime treatment 

Lot 2: Off-site lime treatment 

The utiolity is looking to appoint a number od suppliers to the Dynamic Purchasing System, which will run for a term of 8 years.
