Anglian Water has launched a market engagement exercise ahead of going out to tender with a contract later this year worth an estimated £20 million.

The water company is considering options for Biodiversity and Nature based Solutions across its Estate, River and Wetland environments. Anglian Water will open an online market engagement questionnaire and additional sessions (if required) during May -June 2024.
Thie aim is to provide interested suppliers with an opportunity to obtain further information relating to the company’s requirements and provide Anglian Water with the opportunity to gain feedback from the market.
Details will be issued online following the responses received from the Expression of Interest.
The upcoming contract will be tendered in two separate Lots:
Lot 1 - Land: Habitat Creation, Restoration & Management
Scope of the wide-ranging Lot includes:
- Grassland creation, restoration and management (e.g. cut and collect)
- Woodland creation, restoration and management (e.g. coppicing and pollarding)
- Tree planting and management (e.g. watering and replacing dead whips)
- Scrub creation, restoration and management
- Peatland or bog restoration and management
- Fen creation, restoration and management
- Livestock / nature reserve fence construction and maintenance
- Bird box/ Bat Box installation and management
Lot 2 - Water: Habitat Creation, Restoration and Management
Scope includes:
- Standing open water habitat creation, restoration and management (e.g. ponds and wetland creation).
- River and stream restoration and management
- Treatment wetlands creation and maintenance
- Reedbed restoration and maintenance
- Floating islands, construction, installation and maintenance
Estimated date of publication of the formal contract notice later this year is 1 December 2024. Interested suppliers will be able to tender for both Lots.
