Defra invites suppliers to register for virtual briefing on upcoming £128m tender for Future Hosting and Storage Services

The Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs is inviting interested suppliers to register for a virtual supplier day briefing on Friday 6th September for an upcoming £128 million contract for its Future Hosting and Storage Services (FHAS) requirements. Registration deadline is 3pm on Thursday 5th September 2024.

Defra has published a Prior Information Notice (PIN) about the FHAS contract in support of business applications that will include the provisioning and management of Data Centre based on-premise and private cloud infrastructure. Estimated total value excluding VAT is £128,090,000.

Defra is aiming to inform potential suppliers of the upcoming procurement opportunity and to invite them to participate in the Request for Information (RFI) as part of phase two of the Market Engagement.

The initial step is inviting interested suppliers to an Industry Day virtual supplier briefing presentation on Friday 6th September 2024 where Defra will provide detail on the current Hosting and Storage arrangement, its strategic direction and provide further detail.

Defra is seeking to procure Future Hosting and Storage Services (FHAS) to support its ICT infrastructure with the primary objectives of ensuring high availability, scalability, and security of its data and applications. The services will include:

  • Infrastructure Services
  • Platform Services
  • Data Centre Facilities Management & Site Services
  • Distributed Server (Comms) Rooms Server Management
  • General Services, e.g., Service Catalogue and Foundation Services
  • Cloud Engineering Services

 

The procurement is solely focused on hosting and storage related services - application transformation and migration are delivered via a number of additional ongoing programmes such as the Legacy Applications Programme.

The Industry Day presentation will provide potential suppliers with a detailed overview of Defra’s requirements and procurement process and the opportunity to gain a better understanding of its needs and to engage with the Defra team.

  • Location: Virtual Meeting via the Microsoft Teams Platform

Following on from the Industry Day, Defra will issue a comprehensive Request for Information (RFI) document and Market Engagement Questionnaire (MEQ) with full details to suppliers that registered interest.

Interested suppliers should include the following information in their email:

  • Company name.
  • Company number.
  • Contact details including email, telephone and preferred person to contact.
  • A brief summary of the market you operate in, and how you position yourselves within this in relation to the requirement.

 

Due to the sensitive nature of the requirement, all interested suppliers will be required to sign and return an Authority provided Non-Disclosure Agreement in order to participate.
