Severn Trent has launched a preliminary market engagement exercise on biosolids recycling and associated services on behalf of itself and sister company Hafren Dyfrdwy Cyfyngedig.

The water company has issued a preliminary market engagement notice explaining that it is keen to engage with interested suppliers to help design and tailor a sourcing strategy and procurement process that meets its requirement but is also suitable for the widest group of suppliers.

Every year, Severn Trent recycle just under 600,000 tonnes of biosolids for use in the agricultural sector as a fertiliser.

Scope of sludge to land recycling services to be provided inline with the Biosolids Assurance Scheme include:

  • Haulage
  • Spreading
  • Stockpiling
  • Liming
  • Disposal

Severn Trent point out that response to the pre market engagement is optional and does not contribute to any procurement process.

Any future tender notice will be published in due course – current estimated contract dates are 17 January 2026 to 17 January 2030

Severn Trent is asking interested suppliers to complete a very brief form online by 1 April 2025 - click here to access the form.
