Northern Ireland Water has gone out to tender with a contract for satellite imagery leakage detection services with an estimated value of £7.04 million (inc VAT).

NI Water is looking to use the innovative satellite technology to help it achieve the company’s leakage targets.

Scope of services required are Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) sensor (or equivalent) satellite imagery for leakage detection. The contractor will provide satellite technology that has the ability to scan for ground saturation and displays areas of potential leakage.

Current estimated start and end contract dates are 5 January 2026 to 4 January 2029, with further possible extension options to 4 January 2033.

Deadline to submit enquiries about the tender is 12:00pm on 10 October 2025 and tender submission deadline is 12:00pm on 17 October 2025.

NI Water expects to make its award decision in December 2025.
