United Utilities tenders £3 million AMP8 framework contract for odour control unit routine sampling

United Utilities has gone out to tender with an AMP8 framework contract for odour control unit routine sampling with an estimated value of £3 million including VAT.

The water company requires a framework supplier to provide 6 monthly routine,MCERTS-compliant sampling, laboratory analysis and reporting for 24 Odour Control Units (OCUs) across 11 Industrial Emissions Directive - permitted wastewater sites.

Odour Control Units (OCUs) are treatment systems, and the associated assets are installed and operated by United Utilities as part of its AMP8 and AMP9 environmental obligations set out by the Environment Agency to capture and treat odorous and corrosive gases before they are released to the atmosphere.

Current estimated start and end contract dates are 1 August 2026 to 31 July 2030 with a further possible extension up to 31 July 2035. Estimated contract award decision date is currently 6 July 2026

United Utilities is looking to appoint two suppliers to the framework.

Deadline for submission of enquiries about the contract is 5:00pm on 13 April 2026 and tender submission deadline is 2:00pm on 15 June 2026,
