Kier is set to continue delivering vital maintenance and improvements across South West Water’s operational region over the next two years, following an extension to its role on the Network Services Alliance (NSA).

The framework extension has an indicative value of c.£140 million and runs until March 2028, Kier is the sole contractor appointed.
The appointment marks the continuation of a long-standing relationship of more than two decades between Kier and South West Water and supports the delivery of front-line network activity.
Sam Bottomley Director of Water Services at South West Water said:
“I am very pleased to see the continuation of our long-standing partnership with Kier through this significant extension of the Network Services Alliance. The scale and consistency of Kier’s delivery, completing tens of thousands of maintenance, leakage, and metering activities each year, plays a vital role in ensuring we provide a reliable, high-performing service to our customers every day. Their strong focus on responsive operations, network resilience, and customer service, alongside meaningful investment in local skills, jobs, and community value, aligns closely with our own priorities and values.”
The work includes reactive and planned maintenance across the network, as well as the continued rollout of smart metering, helping customers better understand how water is used day to day.
In the last year, Kier completed more than 25,000 repair and maintenance jobs across the region, including over 18,000 leak repairs, alongside more than 32,000 metering optant and maintenance jobs. Performance on urgent reactive work remained consistent, with over 97% of priority jobs responded to within the two-hour target, at an average response time of around one hour during peak periods.
As part of the extension, Kier will continue to deliver repair and maintenance, leakage activity, network reliability schemes, metering and developer services. The agreement also supports local supply chains and skills development across the region.
Andy Lingham, managing director for Water at Kier Infrastructure, said:
“This extension reflects the strength of our relationship with South West Water and the consistency of delivery across the network. Across the last year, our teams have delivered more than 25,000 repair and maintenance jobs, alongside over 32,000 metering activities, maintaining performance across a high-volume operational environment. The work is continuous and forms a critical part of how the network performs day to day. It is about delivering reliably at scale, responding when needed and maintaining the standards our clients and their customers expect.”
The extension builds on Kier’s continued role across AMP8, including appointments and reappointments with Anglian Water, Severn Trent, South West Water, Southern Water, Thames Water, United Utilities and Yorkshire Water.
