Mining Remediation Authority launches preliminary market engagement for existing water treatment solutions

The Mining Remediation Authority (MRA), the body which manages the effects of past coal mining, including managing mine water pollution from both coal and metal mines, has launched a preliminary market engagement exercise for existing water treatment solutions.

MINING REMEDIATION AUTHORITY ADDRESS PLATE

The MRA is seeking to understand the current capabilities and limitations of, and opportunities presented by the following:

  • treatment technologies used to remove saline and other mine water contaminants
  • opportunities for reducing or repurposing wastes
  • opportunities for reducing the energy consumption of treatment plant.

This will allow MRA to effectively plan future operational work such as purge- and pumping tests where treatment may be required and will potentially be used in the final design of long term MWTS.

More information on the scope requirements, procurement strategy and how to register interest and information on the virtual event will be sent to interested parties on receipt of interest.

Contract dates Current estimated start and end dates are 28 March 2028 to 1 April 2029.

Engagement deadline is 13 July 2026.

Suppliers are invited to submit their interest  - click here to complete the registration process.

Following receipt of interest, interested parties will be sent the Market Engagement Information document. The MRA  will be holding a virtual Town Hall Event on Teams  at 10:00am-12:00pm on 16th July.

Suppliers are asked to note that the date may be subject to change. All changes will be communicated in advance to suppliers that have registered interest.
