Yorkshire Water as awarded Aquam Water Services Ltd. an AMP8 contract for management and hire of metered water standpipes with a total estimated value of £4.5 million including VAT.

Scope of the contract covers the provision and management of the metered standpipe hire process to Yorkshire Water customers, including:

• Buy, stock, advertise and supply the hire of metered standpipe use in the Yorkshire region.
• The ability to maintain, refurbish, clean and disinfect returned standpipes ready for re-issue.
• Gathering consumption details and invoice applicants for the volume of water used and the hire charge.
• Supporting the delivery of Yorkshire Water’s Performance Commitments in the area of water quality
• Discolouration contacts & interruptions to supply
• Train, coach and support the correct use of standpipes and associated network operation to support Yorkshire Water's "Calm Networks" initiative aimed at preventing surges and damage to the distribution network
• Management and policing of illegal network interventions by helping the client prosecute illegal users.

The service does not apply to Yorkshire Water and Service Partner operatives who utilise standpipes in connection with their roles in maintaining the water and waste networks.

Current estimated start and end contract dates are 12 July 2027 to 12 July 2031 with a further possible extension option up to 12 July 2033
