Meridian Utilities Ltd has won two contracts with a combined total value of up to £180 million from Northern Ireland Water.
The Belfast-based company has won the utility’s water and wastewater networks services contract, valued at up to £150 million, for delivery of the core services provided by NIW, including the provision of new services (consumer water and sewer connections), cleaning, repairs and maintenance of the network.
The initial contract runs for three years, with two further possible extension options of two years and one year respectively.
Meridian has also been awarded Northern Ireland Water’s metering contract worth up to £30 million covering water meter installation, maintenance and associated services.
Under the contract, Meridian will be required to provide:
- Proof of supply, meter chamber construction, meter installation and data management for new connections (small and large).
- Site survey, meter chamber construction, meter installation and data management for Unmetered Nonhousehold (UNHH) Optants and Selectives.
- Re-active meter maintenance i.e. replacement of existing defective revenue bearing meter including associated work with chambers and integrated stop cock boxes.
- Pro-active meter maintenance i.e. replacement of existing revenue bearing meter due to meter age and volume passing including associated work with chambers and integrated stop cock boxes.
- Data quality projects.
- Any other metering services e.g. undertaking and management of temporary disconnections for non-payment of bills, fitting of internal meters and operation of NISRANS notification system.
The three year contract includes two further one year extension options.
