Defra publishes latest round of climate adaption reports by water companies in England

The Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (Defra) has released the adaptation reports submitted by organisations in England as part of the fourth round of the adaptation reporting process under the Climate Change 2008 Act.

The Act allows Defra to ask certain organisations to produce reports on:

  • the current and future predicted effects of climate change on their organisation
  • their proposals for adapting to climate change

Sectors invited to submit reports are

  • Aviation
  • Energy
  • Environment
  • Financial
  • Heritage
  • Information and communication technology (ICT)
  • Local authority
  • Marine
  • Ports
  • Road and rail
  • Space
  • Water

Reports have been submitted by a wide range of organisations from both the public and private sectors, including regulators, businesses, charities, local authorities and other public bodies.

Water companies who have submitted reports are

Affinity Water: climate adaption reporting fourth round

Canal and River Trust: climate adaption reporting fourth round

Northumbrian Water (includes Essex and Sussex): climate adaption reporting fourth round

Portsmouth Water Ltd: climate adaption reporting fourth round

Severn Trent Water Ltd: climate adaption reporting fourth round

South Staffordshire Water and Cambridge Water: climate adaption reporting fourth round

South West Water Ltd: climate adaption reporting fourth round

Southern Water Services Ltd: climate adaption reporting fourth round

Thames Water Utilities Ltd: climate adaption reporting fourth round

United Utilities Water Plc: climate adaption reporting fourth round

Yorkshire Water Services: climate adaption reporting fourth round

 

The strategy for the fourth round of reporting was published alongside the third National Adaptation Programme (NAP3).

Defra will publish more climate change adaption reports once they become available.
