Retail water sector - energy management specialists apply for water and sewerage licence

Newly formed company Hydrology Supplier has applied to Ofwat for a water supply licence and sewerage licence to provide retail services to eligible premises within the water and sewerage retail market in England.

The brief synopsis of the firm’s business plan published by the water sector regulator says that Hydrology Supplier plans to offer water, sewerage and trade effluent services to complement its energy management and brokerage services.

The Newcastle-upon-Tyne-based company intends to focus on a multi utility service offering using its expertise to deliver cost savings.

The plan says the group also includes GEC Solutions Ltd, a commercial energy consultancy specialising in renewable energy and sustainability sector and Green Supplier Ltd, a UK-based energy company. Green Energy Consulting has experience in negotiating water retail contracts and is looking to consolidate the services it can offer alongside water and waste water directly to its customers.

Deadline to make written representations or objections with respect to the application on 26 March 2021. Email Ofwat at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or send to Centre City Tower, 7 Hill Street, Birmingham, B5 4UA.
