Yesterday’s Cabinet reshuffle by the Prime Minister has seen the Rt Hon Steve Reed OBE MP leave his current role as Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and appointed as Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government following Angela Rayner’s departure.

Emma Reynolds MP has been appointed as Steve Reed’s replacement as Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.

Steve Reed has served as the DEFRA Minister since he was first appointed on 5 July 2024.

Emma Reynolds, the MP for Wycombe, previously served as Economic Secretary to the Treasury from 14 January 2025 to 5 September 2025 and Parliamentary Secretary at HM Treasury and the Department of Work and Pensions from 9 July 2024 to 14 January 2025.
