Aquavitae, one of the companies trying to break into the water supply market, has complained to the Office of Fair Trading about the price Anglian Water wants to charge for access to its supply network, claiming that Anglian's prices would squeeze its margins and make it impossible for Aquavitae to make a profit. In July Aquavitae announced that it had signed a Wholesale Master Agreement with Yorkshire Water, its ninth to date. Aquaevitae were the first new entrant to be awarded a Supply Licence in England and Wales
Ofwat is due to hold its second workshop on 10 September for a wide range of stakeholders to debate competition issues further, including changes to the current competitive regime (including the water supply licensing regime and insets), more fundamental changes to competition and the position of competition within the wider market framework.
