HUBER Technology have appointed Noventa Energy UK (Noventa) as their exclusive distributor in Scotland for the HUBER ThermWin® technology.

Municipal or Industrial wastewater with a typical temperature of 15°C - 20° C all year round is a hidden and seldom used source of energy running through the sewer network. This constant supply of wastewater is an ideal energy source for both heating and cooling buildings. With over 40 installations globally, the patented HUBER ThermWin® technology is a proven solution for sewer energy recovery.
Dennis Fotinos, Managing Director of Noventa Energy UK said:
“We are excited to extend our partnership with HUBER to Scotland where we are working with Scottish Water Horizons to develop our Wastewater Energy Transfer™ systems at select sites across the country.
“With over 150 years of experience producing innovative products to manage wastewater, HUBER technology allows us to overcome the challenges of dealing with wastewater to build renewable energy projects that are safe, reliable and environmentally friendly. Together we are developing creative solutions to support Scotland’s mission to achieve net zero emissions by 2045.”
Noventa is already working with the HUBER group in North America where Noventa Energy Partners (the parent company) is incorporating the HUBER ThermWin® technology into their Wastewater Energy Transfer™ (WET™) systems to provide meaningful environmental and financial benefits for communities.
Phase 1 of Noventa’s WET™ system at Toronto Western Hospital, currently under construction, will provide over 19MW of low-carbon thermal energy and reduce GHG emissions by 8,400 tCO2e annually – making it the largest raw wastewater energy system in the world.
Over the next 30 years, Noventa’s WET System is expected to:
- supply 1.8 billion kilowatt-hours of energy to the hospital, or approximately 90% of the hospital’s space heating and cooling requirements.
- reduce the hospital’s carbon dioxide emissions by 250,000 tonnes
- save over 141 million kilowatt-hours of electricity, 130 million cubic meters of natural gas, and 1.3 billion litres of cooling water
“HUBER’s pioneering wastewater treatment solutions have been used successfully in Scotland for over 30 years” said Steve Morris, Managing Director of HUBER Technology UK. “Our partnership with Noventa opens up the largely untapped opportunity for wastewater energy recovery, at a time it is most needed”.
