From January 2014, Anglian Water will start investing around £500,000 on a scheme which will allow itto make adjustments to the water pressure in parts of Peterborough and the surrounding area.
The work will help Anglian to better manage the pressure within its water mains and means the firm will be able to provide a more consistent water pressure to each of 57,000 properties in the area.
It will also enable Anglian Water to reduce the amount of water lost through leakage in the area by 0.99mld and to provide more reliable water supplies.
Anglian Water said it expects that the number of burst water mains in the area will reduce by 25% and other leaks will fall by 40% as a direct result of the new scheme.
