The Marine Management Organisation has launched a consultation on its draft vision for the next 20 years in the South marine plan areas and the objectives needed to help achieve it.
The vision and objectives outline how the south plan areas could change in the next 20 years and what needs to happen to reach that point.
They cover the marine plan areas that stretch from Folkestone to the River Dart in Devon, and aim to ensure the waters around the south coast are safe, clean and productive in years to come.
Work towards producing the South Inshore and South Offshore marine plans, formally began in April 20131
Key questions on the draft vision include:
- Does the draft vision address the core issues facing the South marine plan areas?
- If not, how can it be amended to include or remove core issues?
- The South marine plans have a 20 year time horizon. Does the draft vision reflect your view of the South marine plan areas in 2036?
- If not, offer alternative text or suggestions.
- In the 'How will this look in 2036' section, should there be any reference to specific places?
- If so, which places and why?
Deadline for responses to the consultation is 31 July 2014.
