Engineering consultancy ByrneLooby appoints new Director to London Office

International award-winning engineering consultancy ByrneLooby has appointed Charles Terry as a Director of the London Office.

A highly experienced and widely respected engineer with a career spanning 23 years, Charles Terry spent six years as a Director in McBains, a construction and property consultancy, where he managed and grew the civil and structural sector. He has delivered significant large infrastructure projects in the UK, most recently for British Aerospace Engineering (BAE), United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA), Britvic and numerous local authorities in London.

Established in 1998, the engineering consultancy provides a spectrum of services to government, semi-state, and private companies across ten sectors: buildings, conservation, geoscience, environment, transportation, waste management, marine & coastal, water, flooding and energy.

ByrneLooby were also appointed as lead designer for civil engineering company Charles Brand on a £9.5m contract to build the London Gateway development – the state-of-the-art deep-sea port & Logistics Park located on the north side of the Thames Estuary.

ByrneLooby's multidisciplinary team of geotechnical and engineering experts undertook the following role: intricate design of the landside infrastructure at the terminal including pavement and drainage design, foundation design for lighting and CCTV towers. They also provided the following consultancy services: Geotechnical Advisor on settlement analysis, and design and value engineering support during construction phases. 

The consultancy employs approximately 250 engineering consultants and professionals in 16 offices across the UK, Ireland and the Middle East.
