Anglian Water Business partnership to save firms £millions in utility bills

Anglian Water Business has today launched a partnership with water and energy efficiency specialist, SaveMoneyCutCarbon, which is designed to help its 125,000 business customers save millions of pounds in water and energy bills.

The partnership will highlight simple, cost-effective measures that can make a lasting impact on utility bills, offering business customers access to advice and discounts on energy and water saving products via an online portal provided by SaveMoneyCutCarbon.com.

The campaign will be promoted in water bills, bulletins and on the Anglian Water Business website. The partnership will further strengthen Anglian Water Business's  position in the deregulated water marketplace which opens for busines customers in 2017.

Energy bills are a major expense for most businesses and are rising. Some 48% of SMEs say energy accounts for between 25% and 50% of total business costs.  Energy bills rose for 87% of SMEs in 2013, hampering their ability to grow, invest and create jobs.

Small and medium sized businesses (SMEs) can on average save 18% to 25% of their energy costs - £5,800 to £12,200 a year - by taking measures which pay for themselves within 1.5 years, according to a study of more than 3000 SMEs published by the Department for Energy and Climate Change.

It estimated that across the UK, energy efficiency could save SMEs between £1.26 billion and £2.63 billion a year, and cut annual carbon emissions by 8.7 million to 17.6 million tonnes.

Announcing the launch of the partnership, Bob Wilson, Managing Director of Anglian Water Business, said:

“We want to make it easy for our business customers to make lasting savings on their energy and water bills by investing in efficiency. This new partnership gives them real business benefits – special rates on proven products and access to the hands-on expertise of a full service energy efficiency company.”

SaveMoneyCutCarbon will provide a portal on Anglian Water Business’s website offering customers special rates on a range of proven energy and water saving products from major manufacturers like Hansgrohe, Verbatim, Philips and ABB as well as specialist providers like LED manufacturer Soraa and EcoLED.

The range of products offered though the portal will include:

  • EcoSmart showers, eco taps and tap aerators and which can cut water use by 50%-60%, save the energy needed to heat it and typically pay for themselves within a year;
  • High quality LED lighting for indoors and outdoors which can save up to 85% of energy consumption and typically pays for itself within 12-18 months;
  • Intelligent building controls which can cut heating costs by up to a third. Heating and air conditioning can account for 60%-80% of a building’s energy use.
  • Intelligent room controls which respond to daylight and sense when a room is unoccupied, dimming or turning off lights when they’re not needed.

 Anglian Water Business’s Account Managers and Call Centre staff will also be trained to explain how the new partnership can help businesses save costs.

Companies can buy a single LED bulb or eco-shower head and they can access SaveMoneyCutCarbon.com’s field services team for UK-wide energy efficiency surveys, request investment-ready proposals, or access a team to manage major energy and water efficiency projects, including supply and install.

Mark Sait, CEO, SaveMoneyCutCarbon, said:

“Anglian Water Business is delivering real value to its customers and demonstrating that it is taking a long-term, leadership position in the marketplace by setting out to champion and support not just water but also energy efficiency and savings."

“Many organisations don’t realise that they can save thousands of pounds each year by taking simple measures to cut energy and water use which often pay for themselves within two years, and so we’re pleased to support Anglian Water Business’s efforts to help their business and industrial customers.”
