South Staffs and Cambridge Water are forming an independent Panel of customers and stakeholders to help question and challenge their plans for investment and prices in the next five years and beyond.
The company is looking for a number of household customers who would be willing to join the Panel for three to five years or to take part in groups that the Panel will set up to consult on aspects of the company’s performance and plans.
The new, independent Customer Panel will be used to review and, where appropriate, challenge the utility’s performance and delivery over the coming years and for its business planning for the the AMP7 2020 -25 investment period.
The company is looking to appoint eight to twelve members with a wide range of expertise and experience to the Panel, which will be independently chaired. They will include household and business customers as well as key stakeholders such as regulators and environmental bodies.
The water company is now looking for people who meet the following criteria:
- are a current customer in either South Staffs or Cambridge, and who have:
- concern for the interests of the local community and the wider regional economy
- awareness of the utility sector and its strategic impact on customers
- willingness to learn how water is extracted, treated and supplied to every home and business premises
- ability to scrutinise and confidence to challenge
- skills in discussing, listening and influencing.
After initial induction, members will need to dedicate approximately one day a month to keep up to date with water sector and company information as well as to prepare for and attend meetings. Meetings will be held locally in Walsall or in Cambridge or via video conferencing in both at once.
Panel members will be offered a fee of £125 for each attendance at a meeting, plus any related travel expenses.
