Southern Water takes delivery of two kilometre pipe by sea

Southern Water have floated delivery of a two kilometre length of pipe from Shoreham Port to Friars Bay.

The pipe is part of the company’s Cleaner Seas for Sussex project and will be placed in a trench that has already been dug on the seabed at Friars Bay.

The pipe is a new long sea outfall, connecting to the new tunnel which runs from the wastewater treatment works currently being constructed at Lower Hoddern Farm, Peacehaven. It was made in Norway and has been at Shoreham Port for the last month having preparation works done to ensure it stays on the seabed

The pipe left Shoreham Port and was floated to Friars Bay over the weekend. Once in place, divers will assist with sinking the pipe in the trench.
