Southern Water’s chairman, Bill Tame has announced his decision to leave the business at the beginning of April.
Commenting on his decision, Bill Tame said:
“The end of the financial year will mark the completion of the second year and stage of the ongoing turnaround and transformation of the Southern Water.
“At this point we will begin in earnest to transition into delivery of our new and ambitious five year PR19 Business Plan.
“We have in place a strong Board and management team who are well placed to accelerate the business wide improvements set out in our plan. I have therefore decided that it is a good time for me to step down as Chairman and will work with the Board to hand over leadership of the business from the start of the next financial year in April."
The recruitment process for a new Chair has started immediately, led by independent director Paul Sheffield and working through the Nominations Committee. Paul Sheffield will ensure continuity following Bill Tames’s departure and until a new Chair is appointed.
