Anglian Water will start work this month on an £8 million scheme to install a new pumping station at its existing water treatment site in Pitsford, Northamptonshire.
The work will help to improve and enhance the water network in the area, allowing the company to bypass its water treatment works and improving resilience and reliability.
The new pumping station, which is situated close to the region’s Pitsford Reservoir, will supply up to 630 litres of water per second to ensure that supply to customers is maintained if any interruption is caused to its water treatment facility.
Work to install the pumping station, along with a series of new pipes to make final connections to the system, will take place within the boundary of the company’s existing site at Pitsford.
The work is expected to last 10 months and will be completed by December 2020.

Ther water company is also pursuing a separate £7 million investment t in a scheme which will further improve water quality for Grimsby.
The work will help to strengthen the company’s already robust water treatment process, reducing nitrate levels even further and enhancing the overall water quality in the surrounding area.
The scheme, which is due to commence in the spring/summer, subject to planning approval, is expected to last two years and will be completed within the grounds of the current water treatment facility.
David Hartley, Anglian Water spokesperson, said:
"We’re always looking for ways to improve our treatment processes and this work is another example of our commitment to ensure that we’re working as efficiently and effectively as possible.
“Water quality is of the utmost importance to ensure that we continue to provide our customers with the highest standard of drinking water we possibly can. We are always looking to invest in areas right across the region, and we expect this work to benefit not only Grimsby, but the surrounding areas of north Lincolnshire too.”
