Anglian Water’s team of engineers will start crucial work next week to install 2.4km of new water mains pipe in Witham St Hugh’s and Swinderby, Lincolnshire, to support local growth in the area.
The work will see pipes installed to supply water to residents of new developments planned adjacent to the A46, while maintaining current water pressures to existing customers in the area, helping to keeping taps flowing for years to come.
Dodie Honisett, Project Manager for Anglian Water, said:
“The installation of these new pipes will ensure that we can maintain supplies to the area in and around Witham St Hughs, reducing the risk of future bursts or interruptions.
“Our region is one of the fastest growing in the UK, and by 2025 we expect to serve 3.3 million households, with over 380,000 new homes needing to be connected to our network.”
Work will begin by connecting the new pipe to the existing network prior to using a directional drilling technique to install the pipe underneath the A46, thereby avoiding any disruption to the busy highway. The work is expected to be completed by the end of June 2021.
