Irish Water, working in partnership with Longford County Council, is starting work as part of an upgrade to the water treatment plant at Lough Forbes.
The water company is upgrading the water treatment plant at Lough Forbes, Co. Longford. The project will benefit over 19,000 customers in Longford supplied by the Longford Central Water Supply Scheme and ensure the continued delivery of a clean, safe drinking water source and increase treatment capacity to allow for future growth in the area.
The works are being carried out by Veolia Water Ireland on behalf of Irish Water and will ensure that the water treatment facilities are fully compliant with EU Drinking Water Directives.
The upgrade works will provide increased capacity, optimise the treatment process and improve the performance of the water treatment plant to meet the current needs of the area and allow for social and economic growth in Longford.
The works are being carried out by Veolia Water Ireland on behalf of Irish Water and being delivered under the Early Contractor Involvement Programme.
