Global chemicals company Kemira has announced price increases for all polymers it produces globally to industry and water, pulp and paper, and oil and gas businesses.

Kemira said that as global demand continues to rebound post-Covid, the supply of key raw materials remains heavily constrained.

β€œThe supply-demand balance is significantly increasing the cost of raw materials, logistics, packaging, and utilities,” a statement issued by the chemicals supplier for water-intensive industries globally said.

The following price increases will become effective immediately or as contract terms allow:

Product line                     Price increase

Dry powder polymers          + 10-15%

Emulsion polymers             + 8-15%

Other liquid polymers         +10-20%

Price increases will vary based on geographic region and will differ by product type and may be higher in selected areas.

With a specific focus on pulp and paper, water treatment and oil and gas, Kemira supplies chemicals to a number of UK water companies.

At the end of August the chemical company also announced price increases for inorganic coagulants in industry and water in North America saying that the price increase was necessitated by significant increases in market pricing of key feedstocks used in production of iron and aluminum coagulants.

Additionally, trucking logistics have been highly constrained and the cost of shipping has increased significantly, Kemira said.
