Works underway to restore water supply in Dublin City following large water main burst

Work is currently underway to restore the water supply for customers in Dublin City North following a large burst on a water main in Dublin.

Uisce Éireann, which is responsible for the delivery of all public water and wastewater services in Ireland, is working in partnership with Dublin City Council to address the supply interruption and restore normal water supply as quickly as possible to impacted customers.

The water company said dedicated water services crews are onsite working on repairs and are making every effort to minimise disruption and restore normal water supply as quickly as possible.

Customers in a number of areas may be impacted by reduced water pressure and/or water outages until the works are completed.

Uisce Éireann said the repairs are complex due to the location of the burst and the presence of other underground services. A statement issued by the water company said the repairs were expected to be completed early this morning.

It typically takes up to three hours for normal water supply to be fully restored to all customers, after the estimated restoration time, as the water network refills.

Operations Lead for Uisce Éireann, Joe O’ Reilly, said:

“Uisce Éireann understands the inconvenience when an unplanned outage occurs, and we would like to thank impacted customers for their patience while we work to complete the repairs and restore normal supply as quickly as possible.”

“We are appealing to customers to help conserve water by not running taps needlessly, taking showers instead of baths and to postpone using dishwashers and washing machines, where possible, until repairs are completed. Further information on water conservation is available on our website at www.water.ie/conserve.”

Uisce Éireann We are committed to continuously upgrading and developing critical infrastructure to support the growth needed in housing and across our economy, while protecting the environment and safeguarding water supplies.
