The nighttime restriction were put in place from 10pm Monday, 4 March until 6am Tuesday, 5 March to allow local reservoir levels to recharge. This is the third restriction the water company has put in place for Trim in less than three weeks.

Customers in a number of areas affected by the restrictions were warned that they could experience outages or reduced pressure and that it could take two to three hours following restoration of pressure for normal supply to be fully restored to all areas.

Michael Cunniffe, Uisce Éireann’s Asset Operations Lead (Water) East Region appealed to the public to conserve water during daytime hours.

Uisce Éireann said it continues to monitor reservoir levels daily and will provide an update if further restrictions are needed.

The water company is currently progressing works to improve the water supply in Trim including interim upgrades at the treatment plant which are due for completion this year. This is in addition to a major project to upgrade and modernise the plant and address ongoing operational issues, meet demand, and ensure that the drinking water supplies meet requirements under the Drinking Water Regulations.

Planning permission has been granted and, following additional consents and pre-construction works, it is envisaged that construction will commence in Q4.
