Portsmouth Water and Cappagh have completed more than three kilometres of water network improvements across Hampshire and West Sussex in recent months.

Portsmouth Water continues to invest in its network to provide an even more reliable service for customers. As part of the improvements, the water company and Cappagh replaced sections of older pipework to help prevent leaks and bursts.
The work forms part of Portsmouth Water’s wider investment in its network. Between 2025 and 2030, the company is investing £15 million to renew 52 kilometres of water mains across its supply area, helping to reduce interruptions to homes and businesses and improve the long-term reliability of the network.
Replacing older sections of pipework helps reduce the need for emergency repairs and minimise disruption for customers. Since the five-year investment plan began in 2025, Portsmouth Water has renewed 15 kilometres of water mains, meeting its target for this stage of the programme.
Bob Taylor, CEO of Portsmouth Water, said:
“This summer’s work is a great example of the effort that goes into looking after the water network every day. Working with our partners at Cappagh, we’ve completed more than three kilometres of water mains renewals in recent months, helping to improve reliability and reduce the likelihood of leaks and bursts.
We’d like to thank local communities for their patience and understanding while this work was carried out.”
Work will continue across Hampshire and West Sussex in the months and years ahead with further improvements planned across the region’s water network.
