Severn Trent Water is to invest £15million in upgrading both its water and wastewater networks in Stafford.

The water pipes in Stafford have grown old and are now prone to bursts. The utility is investing £10million to install more than 20 kilometres of new water pipe which will run from the Shugborough area into Stafford town centre.

While the sewers in and around Stafford are in good condition the town itself is expanding rapidly.  To accommodate the commercial and residential growth in the area, and to prevent the sewers from being overwhelmed, Severn Trent  is investing £5million to upgrade two major sewage pumping stations and install 5km of new sewers in and around the town.

Both the water and sewer pipe replacements will be carried out as one project - work is scheduled to start in early summer 2014 and finish the work by spring 2016.
