Bristol Water gets planning approval for new £125m Cheddar reservoir

Bristol Water has gained planning approval to build a new £125m reservoir next to the existing one in Cheddar, Somerset.

Sedgemoor District Council voted overwhelmingly in favour of approving the application for a second reservoir, subject to Section 106 agreement and planning conditions.

Bristol Water commented:

“We believe that the £125m reservoir, if built, will provide a much needed new source of water in Somerset – as well as being of enormous long term recreational and conservation benefit.”

“However, there is still a long way to go before any construction, as the investment must also secure regulatory approval from Ofwat.”
