DECC tenders £10m energy consultancy contract - including hydro and marine power

The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) has gone out to tender with a contract worth up to £10 million to establish an energy technical specialist framework, including hydroelectric and marine technologies.

DECC is looking to appoint suppliers for technical support for determination, evaluation and delivering the UK energy and climate change policies and programmes as part of the Energy Technical Specialist Framework.

The framework contract will run for up to four years and is divided into 22 different lots , with up to six suppliers to be appointed to each lot. Lot 8 is specifically dedicated to hydroelectric and marine technologies, including wave and tidal and is worth between £100,000 to £450,000.

Under Lot 8, suppliers will be required to undertake Technical Support Services – DECC’s aim is to ensure that UK hydroelectric and marine technologies energy policies are underpinned by robust technical evidence.

The description of the likely subject areas include:

  • Cost structures and technology development in the marine environment.
  • Deployment, maintenance, foundations, marine growth/fowling on equipment and cables and survivability in storms.

Suppliers will be expected to provide high quality technical advice on a permanent and ad-hoc basis.

DECC said that following the successful assessment of eligible organisations, the Energy Technical Specialist Framework will enable a wide range of parties to tender for work packages within their subject areas of expertise, irrespective of the size of the organisation. The Framework is applicable to industrial, research and academic organisations, consultancies as well as self-employed technical specialists.

Time limit for receipt of tenders or requests to participate is 22nd December 2014. Click here to access the tender documentation.
