Harwich Haven Authority has gone out to tender with a dredging and pumping works contract for the Harwich Maintenance Dredging Framework 2018 to 2021 worth an estimated £24 million.
The contract covers maintenance dredging in Harwich and Felixstowe, disposal to sea and to sites in the harbour, small scale plough and agitation dredging, together with associated hydro-graphic survey.
The contract is divided into three Lots.
Lot 1, which is worth £22.4 million, is for harbour works at Harwich and Felixstowe covers dredging maintenance silt from harbour berths and approaches
The work involves removing approximately 1 200 000 cubic metres (in-hopper) over a period of 6 months. The Lot also includes the possibility of additional dredging as required of fine sand or sand and gravel, carried out in the approach channels and disposed to sea.
Lot 1 will be let as a works package which will be priced by the tenderers appointed onto the framework agreement.
Lot 2, worth £1.2 million, is for sediment placement works and involves dredging approximately 100 000 cubic metres of maintenance silt and disposal in sediment placement sites in the Harbour.
Lot 3 is for minor works and is worth £320k.
All three Lots will be let as a works package to be priced by the tenderers appointed onto the framework agreement. Contractors will be selected for the works packages using the criteria of an acceptable programme and plan of operations and on the lowest price.
