The Environment Agency is currently out to tender with a contract for monitoring asset performance for maintenance optimisation.
The Agency has started a project to look at how predictive analytical techniques can be used to optimise asset maintenance and operations. The EA wants to explore how data can be gathered from sensors deployed on flood asset components, and how the data can be then used to detect anomalies and trends as components degrade.
The ultimate aim is to complete a full prototype test of an end-to-end sensing and decision-support system. The prototype will be deployed on an Environment Agency owned pumping station.
It is anticipated that the contract will be awarded in December 2019, to be completed over approximately 42 months.
