Set up of Green Investment Bank cleared by EC

 

The European Commission (EC) has cleared the creation of the UK’s Green Investment Bank (GIB) after it was deemed to be in line with EU state aid rules.

 

The Government has now confirmed that flood defence schemes will be included under the £50 billion “Guarantees” scheme outlined in the Infrastructure (Financial Assistance) Bill.

Leading water sector organisations British Water and Water UK are to hold a second Rollercoaster Summit in November on smoothing the AMP investment cycles in the water sector.

CEO appointed for Green Investment Bank

 

Business Secretary Vince Cable has announced the latest executives to join the UK Green Investment Bank (UK GIB).

 

IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, has invested $12 million in Norway’s Aqualyng Holding AS to expand the company’s seawater desalination projects in China, helping address the country’s water shortage problem.

 

 

Construction sector output decreased by 5.2 per cent in the second quarter of 2012 compared with the first quarter, according to the latest ONS figures, pulling the UK deeper into recession.

 

A consortium of 80 of the world’s largest pension funds is ready to provide funding for infrastructure projects under the government’s new £40bn guarantee initiative announced yesterday.

A keynote seminar is taking place in London on Thursday next week to look at upcoming opportunities and technology trends in the water sector in both UK and overseas markets.

 

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is continuing to support the modernisation of water and wastewater infrastructure in Turkey with a loan of up to €20 million to finance the construction of the Mezitli wastewater treatment plant in Mersin.

Ofwat seeks to reassure investors

Water industry regulator Ofwat has sought to reassure the financial community in its latest briefing to City analysts and investors in the water sector about its proposals for regulatory reform for the upcoming Price Review and beyond.
