Flooding and Flood Defence

glasgow_council_logoFollowing its recent inauguration, Scotland’s largest flood prevention scheme will now protect hundreds of homes and business on the south side of the city.

The £10 million Central Felixstowe Coast Protection Scheme designed by Mott MacDonald and constructed by VolkerStevin, is due to be completed early following a decision by the Environment Agency  to bring forward some of the second phase of funding.

Householders and communities around the UK will benefit from a dynamic new series of flood risk maps created for Halcrow.

The Environment Agency is starting work this week on the £1.2 million flood defence improvement scheme at Braunton in Devon to reduce the risk of flooding in the village.

The Environment Agency, which manages close to 6,000km of flood defences and 1,400km of sea defences, has published its flood and coastal erosion risk management progress report 2008-2011 for England.

Windermere flooding plans go on display

United Utilities' £5m plans to clean-up The Glebe in Windemere go on display today.

The Mayor should use his leadership to press forward action to address the serious risk of flood damage and potential loss of life London faces if there is severe rainfall, a new report from the London Assembly says today.

The areas of Scotland most at risk of flooding are to be identified for the first time, as part of a consultation launched this week.

The Environment Agency is carrying out a management review of flood defences between Saltfleet and Gibraltar Point and will be hosting two workshops for people to have their say on how tidal flood risk is managed in the future.

The Environment Agency has secured planning permission for its £6.1 million Keswick flood risk management scheme to protect 180 homes and businesses at risk of flooding from the River Greta.
