Hilbrock coastal revetementThe Environment Agency has extended the deadline to submit Expressions of Interest to participate in its £200 million flood and coastal resilience innovation programme from 15 January 2021 to 29 January 2021.

Ironbridge Shropshire - River SevernIronbridge in Shropshire has been made more resilient to flooding following a review by the Environment Agency of the issues faced in the February 2020 floods.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council has announced that work on the £7 million South Withernsea Coastal Defence Scheme, off Withernsea Bay beach, has now been completed.

EA PENKETH  WHITTLE FLOOD RISK SCHEMEThe Environment Agency has launched a public consultation on proposals for a £3.3 million flood risk management scheme in Penketh and Whittle Brooks in Warrington that could reduce the risk of flooding to 221 properties.

Flooded road and water-logged-fields 1The Environment Agency is warning communities to stay vigilant while flood risk continues for the next few days in parts of England, with ongoing flooding expected in some areas due to recent extreme weather and some further flooding possible as more rain is expected.

Boston barrier flood gate 1The Environment Agency has announced that the Boston Barrier flood gate is now fully operational and ready to give an enhanced level of flood protection to over 13,000 homes and businesses in the town.

YW HEBDEN BRIDGE RESERVOIRReservoir levels above Hebden Bridge will be lowered once again this winter, as one part of a range of measures put in place to help protect the town from flooding.

STORM DESMOND 1The Environment Agency has invested £10 million to improve flood defences since Storm Desmond wreaked havoc across Northumberland five years ago – and is due to spend a further £10 million over the next six years.

A new report by the National Audit Office (NAO) finds that while the government is on track to achieve its target for better protecting 300,000 more homes from flooding by March 2021, it does not have a comprehensive measure of its progress in reducing the overall level of flood risk across England.
