Flooding and Flood Defence

MPs on the House of Commons Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (EFRA) Committee are calling for an overhaul of flood management in England to tackle the rising risk to communities from climate change.

A new, independent report launched today is aimed at helping people better protect their homes and businesses from risk of flooding and recover more quickly if the worst happens.

The Environment Agency is currently working with Kent County Council, Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council and Maidstone Borough Council to develop options to reduce the risk of flooding to communities via the proposed £6 million-plus River Medway Flood Storage Areas (FSAs) project.
