Flood warning sign- Closed country road 1The Environment Agency has launched new flood warning services across the West Midlands that will help to warn almost 13,000 additional property owners of the risk of flooding.

FLOOD DEFENCES - MATLOCK 1The Environment Agency’s major project to reinstate the flood defences in Matlock has reached a significant milestone with the completion of the flood wall.

THAMES BARRIER 1The Environment Agency has announced that partners will work together to raise flood defences sooner than expected as part of an updated plan to ensure communities in London and the wider Thames Estuary – where the River Thames meets the North Sea – are ready to adapt to the impacts of climate change.

Thames Barrier - aerial view closed gatesThe Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs and Environment Agency has said it now expects costs of around £16.2 billion to upgrade the flood defences in the Thames Estuary for the period 2023 to 2100 – a rise around 50% since 2012.

THAMES BARRIERThe Environment Agency has said it will publish an updated Thames Estuary 2100 Plan in May 2023, following the conclusion of a consultation on its proposals which ran from 26 September to 20 November in 2022.
